European Bronze Medallists!

The Scotland Mens & Womens teams recently returned from the European Championships in Lahti, Finland. Both teams had a fantastic time at the tournament and played some excellent lacrosse. The results and scores of all matches can be found on the ‘Results’ pages within each team’s section of the site.
Congratulations to both teams for a great tournament and well done to the Scotland Womens team who came home with bronze medals!!

The Barratt Trophy is awarded every year to Lacrosse Scotland’s most improved player. Nominations are taken from the coaches of all the womens teams then a winner announced. For the 2007/2008 season the players recognised are as follows:

Senior Women’s Home Internationals Report

This year’s Home Internationals were held in Cardiff, Wales. Despite the extreme weather conditions Scotland took to the pitch in high spirits ready to put into action all of their hard work this season. Martha, the new national coach, and her team: Katelyn, Colleen, Val and Al, were hard at work on the sidelines giving the team the support they needed.
A disappointing match against Japan on Saturday was followed by a nail biting defeat (in the last minute) to Wales the following day, “it could have gone either way” Wendy Reynolds, Umpire. Some great team goals, excellent defence, and FIGHT from all, made it one of the best Scotland-Wales games ever to be played. The team developed throughout the weekend and went into the England match with a determined spirit, fighting until the final whistle.
It was an extremely positive step on the road to the European Championships this summer, and the World Cup next year.

Child Protection and Volunteering Research

sportscotland and Children 1st have commissioned the Sport Industry Research Centre at Sheffield University to explore the opinions of club members, parents and volunteers towards child protection legislation and disclosure checking. This research is important as it will allow sportscotland and Children 1st to appropriately support SGBs, clubs and volunteers in the lead up to, and following, the imminent legislative changes in child protection and disclosure checking.
We have been in contact with some SGBs and clubs regarding your help with this project, but in light of feedback we have amended the methodology. The main survey can be accessed electronically here: http://sircspss.hwb.shu.ac.uk/sportscotlandchildren1st/ The survey will also be available in paper format and we will provide as many copies and pre-paid envelopes as you request.
The questionnaire should take no more than 10 minutes to complete and is aimed at club members, parents of junior members and volunteers.
The returns are completely anonymous and cannot be linked to the individual completing them, but we will enter all completed questionnaires into a draw and one club will win £200 of sports equipment as appropriate to them.
